Circular Business Models
As we implemented Circular products we noticed that the business models need to adjust in order to have circular product work. On many items that are not essential like underwear and socks (though one can make them have longevity - they are an every day thing)
For many fashion and interiors products we need to adjust our business modelling to suit the reoccurring value system. bringing in re-use, with the success of Vinted this is becoming a new way to make more revenue after the first sale and businesses have been bring that further back in house with peer to peer platforms like the ones we partner with.
Aside from re-use, as this cannot compensate for the loss in reduction of over production, of course we see an are streamlining take place from pre-order models and just in time - lean models that reduces the amount we need to make in the first place.
We would go steps further and look for new complementary revenue models in, tech, digital offerings, events & clubs - as well as kits for repair - and next use win win JVs.
It is an important part of our work not to work in a silo for these new models.
We also need to make full alliances and partnerships to work on a sustainably circular fully realised model aside from re-use of linear items - and design CBMs not just for the reuse sector but for the next value space for that item - which means designs that are evolved for next use systems, new use spaces and eventually fibre to fibre or inter-industry models.
